Amol
Pendse was diagnosed with Hepatitis C few years ago. Hepatitis C is an uncommon
disease and Amol was extremely unlucky to contract it. The interferon
injections for treatment of Hepatitis C cost Rs 15,000 each. He had to take 72
such injections. But unfortunately the disease recurred after the treatment and
the virus destroyed his liver.
Though
outwardly very cheerful and positive person, his liver has now shrunken to a
small size. At 35 years of age his only hope is with the liver transplant. This
is the plan various doctors have recommended.
But
as we learnt the liver transplant is one of the costliest treatment. The
total cost of the liver transplant today in India is about Rupees 35 Lakhs.
This includes medical tests of both the recipient and the donor, surgeries
(donor & recipient), hospitalization (donor & recipient), medicines,
post surgery tests and check up. (With reference to the recommendation
letter from Apollo Hosp)
Amol
works in the administration department of a private company in Pune (High
Places Management Pvt Ltd). You can easily comprehend that this is an
impossible burden for him especially after depleting his savings for the
initial costly treatment of interferon injections.
Amol,

and friends of Amol, know him to be a very friendly, positive minded person.
Very energetic and active Amol is a keen mountaineer, and nature enthusiast. He
has climbed many rock walls and pinnacles. He has helped lot of other young
people to get interested in outdoors and to become better person. He is a

positive energy and very understanding nature. We are all blessed to have him
in our lives and our lives are far richer because of him.
We
all have contributed to best of abilities for this effort, but we are still
very short. This is a huge challenge but are determined to make sure that money
doesn’t stand between him and the treatment that he deserves.
